new beginnings

I've been test-driving my sister-in-law's new camera, which happens to be the exact camera I have been really interested in for for a few months. Today, as an early-birthday/graduation present from Mom & Dad/myself, I got one. And now I can capture all of these beautiful little moments that surround me. I'm loving it.

listening to silence

It is raining today. I babysat. I art journaled. I dreamed of planting flowers.

promise and the cold

What a cold couple of days. I am ready for the warmth to come again. My plants need the warmth to flourish. I can't remember it being so chilly in May before. I am ready to see some seedlings peeking out from those markers!

ready to burst

The Dogwoods out back are just getting ready to burst into bloom. It is cold today. I'm looking for the promise of the warmth of summer.

holiday

I am certainly lucky, enjoying my holiday with family. Just before lunch, I found myself by those I love most in the whole world, and that is such a wonderful place to be. I'm so lucky.

too precious for words

The past few days have been windy and cold. Today was a sad day, and we lost a good friend, neighbor, and partner. And we are reminded how precious life is, and how fleeting.

before the rain

Last night, after I returned from Ames and got some of my things unpacked, I went out to plant the garden before the rain. It was supposed to rain today...and it has a bit, and it will definitely rain later on. But I stayed outside until I absolutely couldn't see the seeds anymore. Then, first thing this morning, I planted some more. I just have to wait until my brother tills a few more squares for me, and then I'll get the rest of it in the ground. For now....I'm loving having my hands in the earth again.

only time

Today, I'm feeling like I need a few more hours in the day. This pretty little clock is something I purchased for my father in Munich when I lived abroad in 2004.

fair weather

Even though it has been windy the past few days, it is beautiful outside. Summer is such a relief. I'm nursing my sunburn indoors today...trying to decide what to get rid of before my move to Indiana.

verbena

I planted these beauties outside by the fountain in the backyard today. My hands hurt from cultivating the soil, but it feels really good to be working outside again.

blue eyes

My niece is so cute. She's also very vocal. And as you can see, she has really blue eyes. And I am really lucky every time I get to babysit her.

Today Mom & I bought most of our flowers (if not all!) that we'll need for the season. I'll plant the rest as it gets warmer. My sister-in-law got the camera of my dreams recently, and she let me have fun with it today.
