say goodbye

I am hoping it is time to say goodbye to winter for the year. It was a dark, gloomy, foggy winter, and I'm ready for it to shed its chilly coat for the warmth of spring.

the piazza

My head is still in Florence today. Here's a shot of the carousel they put up in the Piazza della Repubblica starting around Thanksgiving. I miss the colors, the architecture, the people. I miss everything about Florence.

courtesy of Piazza Della Repubblica

This whole gardening/flowers bug is not a new development for me. In the fall of 2004, I missed my flowers from the summer. The Piazza Della Repubblica had this flower market every Thursday for the first month or so of the fall, and it tempted me every day. I couldn't resist this beautiful mum when I was on my way back from class one day. I forgot I snapped a shot of it one sunny morning.

the fish boy

This is one of my favorite statues from the Bargello in Florence. I took so many pictures of it while I was there. I loved photographing sculptures more than I thought I would.

a room with a view, part II

Another shot from my trip to China. This time, it is from a garden in Hangzhou. If you really zone out and look at it, it looks like a painting hanging on the wall, or even a photograph. These windows are one of my favorite things about the gardens in China. It makes things very peaceful and very beautiful.

green dreams

It may be senioritis, partially, but I am just itching to get my garden started. I wish I was planting beds while I'm sitting in class. I dream about flowers and different varieties of lettuce. I imagine myself amongst tomatoes. I can't wait for summer.

the midwestern sky

I took this picture a couple of summers ago in the aftermath of one of the worst storms I'd seen. It flattened crops for miles and miles and had some of the scariest looking clouds I have ever seen. The aftermath, however, had very unusual and beautiful mammatus clouds...maybe my second favorite cloud.

foxglove

Man, I'm missing the green...the flowers. The daffodils are just starting to bloom here, and I want to be at home, with my hands buried in the soil. This photo is from two summers ago. Not the most perfect foxgloves, but still very pretty.
